Double bed, bunk bed and a private roof terrace on the Rhine

Modern 1 lies permanently moored in the Marina Rheinlicht in Lorch, sheltered behind the Lorcher Werth island. The water stays calm, and the big Rhine barges pass at a distance — visible, but never intrusive.

The houseboat has one cabin with a double bed, a separate cabin with a bunk bed and a sofa bed in the living area. That layout suits families particularly well: the children have their own space, the parents theirs. Four guests stay comfortably, six are possible. Two cots are available on request.

Through the panoramic windows you look out over vineyards, wooded hills and the castles of the Upper Middle Rhine Valley. The roof terrace belongs to you alone — the place where most guests spend their evenings.

The houseboats are well insulated, against sound as well as against cold. Inside it stays quiet, warm in winter and pleasantly cool in summer thanks to air conditioning. After dark the location shows perhaps its finest side: there is barely any light pollution here, and on a clear night the valley lies under a sky full of stars that many guests no longer know — best seen from your own roof terrace.

The bank of the Rhine lies directly beside the marina. You are welcome to get into the water there, at your own risk: it is not an official bathing spot, and the entry over the bank is natural and unimproved.

The boat comes with a full kitchen including dishwasher, a bathroom with shower, air conditioning and heating, Wi-Fi as well as bed linen and towels. Two free parking spaces at the marina are reserved for you. Lorch station is 500 metres away, Frankfurt Airport around 70 kilometres.

The houseboat is stationary and is not driven — no boat licence is required.

Good to know: Check-in from 4 pm, check-out by 12 noon, minimum stay two nights. Non-smoking, no pets, no events. Quiet hours from 10 pm to 9 am. You board across a gangway onto the jetty; there are no steps on the jetty or on the houseboat itself, everything is on one level. Families with children and older guests have stayed with us many times. Even so, the houseboat is not fully wheelchair accessible.

Price: Price for two guests. From the third guest 35 € per person and night. Plus 7 % VAT and 2 € tourism levy per privately travelling adult per night. You will see the total price for your dates before booking.
